The vaccine is also recommended for people over 65 and those who want to reduce their risk of getting the flu. A flu shot (also known as an influenza vaccine or flu vaccination) minimizes the risk of infection and reduces the risk of potential complications from the flu, particularly among high-risk groups such as pregnant women, young children, and people with weakened immune systems.

When should you get the flu vaccine?
Don’t wait for flu season, which typically runs from December through March and causes many people to get the flu. Take preventive action and get your flu shot early—ideally between mid-October and December 2026.
What if I get the COVID-19 vaccine at the same time or shortly before or after the flu vaccine?
You can get vaccinated against the coronavirus before, at the same time as, or after your flu vaccine. There is no minimum interval between the vaccinations (Source: BAG Saisonale Grippe (Influenza)).
The BAG recommends a COVID-19 booster shot for the following groups:
- People aged 65 and older
- People aged 16 and older with a chronic illness
- People aged 16 and older with Down syndrome
- Pregnant women
What happens if I don’t show up for my scheduled appointment?
If a reservation has been made and the appointment has been confirmed by the pharmacy, you will be billed for the appointment. Scheduled appointments can be canceled free of charge up to 24 hours before the appointment using the booking tool.
Tip: Bring your vaccination record book with you to your vaccination appointment so we can verify your vaccination status.
